Around half of proximal femoral fractures are Neck of femur fractures. They are more common after the age of 50. Incidence is higher among the females due to osteoporosis.
These proximal femoral fractures are also result of fall in older age patients. They can be treated by internal fixation using nail (PFN) or plate-screw (DHS).
Fracture of acetabulum (Hip Joint Socket) is usually a result of high velocity trauma like vehicular accident. Proper surgical fixation is required to prevent future arthritis.
